| 3 | Pietenpol Air Camper | 8/11/2005 | | | I was in the market for a nostalgic looking plane to be built for electric power. Dumas has an excellent scaled down version of the Air Camper that was just what I was looking for. I started hunting around the web for information regarding the kit and found that there is a fairly large community of builders and pilots for the full scale homebuilt plane. Soon I began to consider building "the real deal". I read an article on AVWeb by Matt Paxton which I highly recommend to anyone interested in this plane. He chronicles the process from deciding to build and all the steps of the process as he completes them. | | | | | 2 | Next Best Thing | 11/1/2002 | | | Just a few years ago a Christmas present from my son brought my inner-pilot back to life. It was an RC model, a trainer, that took me forever to build and is still (after 3 years of flying) my favorite. At least I was flying SOMETHING. | | | | Getting Started in RC | Non-Project | $500.00 |
| | 1 | Initial Idea | 9/1/1982 | | | 24 years ago I had a dream to pilot my own aircraft and became interested in Ultralights. I bought the guide "Building & Flying the Mitchell Wing" by Larry Collier and started planning the project. As an 18 year old I had the woodworking skills, the tools and the space to take on the project. The only thing I needed was money, which upon a final feasibility review, ended that project (but not the dream). | | | | | | | "Building & Flying the Mitchell Wing" | Non-Project | $7.95 |
