1 Side of Gussets on Special Rib #56/5/2007
Found an hour to go out and put those gussets on the rib I prepared. Probably won't flip and do the other side till Thursday.

Special Rib #5 Started6/3/2007
I fit all the pieces for the rib into the jig, sanded all the joints level, score-sanded all gussets and then sucked all the dust up with the shop vac. ...same as the last 34 ribs. I will end up with 36 ribs because I noticed slight humps in some of them and I felt compelled to do a better job. Today's rib is #35. I also steamed the top capstrip for the last rib. I wanted to glue side A but time ran out. As I picked gussets from each bin, and each little bundle was down to about 4 or 5, I remembered the 3 solid days making them and putting stackes of gussets 5 inches thick into each bin. I remember making almost 1000 gussets. Now they are nearly all in wing ribs, and eventually all the wing ribs will become a wing. While studying the empennage sheet I also noted that there are less pieces in each of the 5 sections of the empennage than in each wing rib. In this case the time will be spent setting up jigs, since each piece is unique. At least I can see progress and progress is good.

Special Rib #4 First Gusset Set On6/2/2007
Gussets on. Don't know if I was too late to get them on in time to re-jig and do the other side tonight. That would help me get through another rib this weekend leaving the grand finale rib for some time during the week.

Done With Special Rib #46/2/2007
While cleaning up the shop I looked up at the clock and noticed that it had been 7 hours since the first set of gussets were finished and the temperature in the shed was in the 80's all day. I decided to go ahead and move on to side 2. Now 2 ribs remain and only 1 capstrip needs to be steamed.
